Oscars 2017 Red Carpet – Best and Worst Dressed!
The Oscars Red Carpet looks are always a major talking point and breaking the internet with the hits and misses. Yeah we do have quite a few controversial looks this year too ! So here is a carefully curated list of the best and worst dressed at the 89th Academy Awards 2017. Lets see who made it to our Coveted list and who missed. So lets dive straight into it !
1.Taraji P. Henson
Taraji P. Henson knows how to steal a scene. She wore a custom off-the-shoulder navy velvet Alberta Ferretti gown with a sexy thigh high slit, dazzling Nirav Modi statement necklace and Jimmy Choo shoes and bag. Henson perfectly captured the retro rewind vibe of the 2017 Oscars red carpet and captured a place at the top of our coveted list.
Emma Stone wore an embellished Givenchy dress harking back to the flapper era. I am smitten with everything about it,the colour, the embellishment, the fit as well as the hair and makeup. She brought back the ’60s with this gold number that was accentuated with a lot of fringe. And as the night panned out, her choice of colour proved to be the perfect complement to the Oscar she took home as Best Actress in a Leading Role for La La Land.
Ruth Negga wore a custom-made red Valentino dress and Irene Neuwirth jewelry. Negga looked like a queen in such a regal ensemble, which is why she reigns on our coveted list. It’s the high collar. It’s the slight lift at the shoulders. It’s the long sleeve. It’s the red jewelled headpiece. It’s totally Elizabethan!
4. Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy Teigen wearing Zuhair Murad looked a picture of perfection in her angelic thigh split white gown. Complete with gold beading, a matching beaded belt and floor-length cape, Chrissy looked like a total Greek goddess
Viola looked fierce in a custom Armani Privé vermillion silk gown with a high neckline that falls into draped shoulders and pleated detailing on the bodice. She was a winner even before she walked out onto that stage. Davis, who took home the Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in Fences, looked radiant in the beautiful red gown.
The Fifty Shades of Grey star looked like she was auditioning for a role in a period drama as she attended the 89th Academy Awards on Sunday in a silk Gucci gown. The Champagne gown with a high ruffled neck & long sleeves featured a questionable enormous bow at the waist and a wrinkled hem.She looked as though she was trying to be dressed like a life-sized replica of the Golden Oscar statue which was the worst move possible. With her hair pulled back half off her face and natural looking makeup, Dakota lacked something of the razzle dazzle fitting of an Oscars ensemble.
Scarlett opted for a sheer see-through pink gown nipped in with a black belt. The 32-year-old could not win her fans with her Azzedina Alaia frock, and dozens of people remarked that her outfit looked like a shower curtain.Like the dress is actually lazy. The dress did not do anything for her. It doesn’t attract you with colour. It doesn’t want to make a case for its construction. It doesn’t ask you to appreciate the material. It has no skills. Way too casual and useless for the red carpet.
Sofia Boutella wearing Chanel looks like a glitter handled feather duster that sweeps her straight into our worst dressed list. Sequins and feathers are not a bad pairing but the ratio is totally off. The entire look is swallowed up by the over the top feathery hem.An epic fail for the red carpet!
This was the Moonlight actress’s first trip to the Academy Awards, and she was certainly a major talking point in this intricate Ellie Saab Couture dress. The bottom half of the dress resembled something from the Tudor era, while the bodice looked like birds pecking at Janelle’s boobs.Too crowded to make a point.
This yellow fairytale gown on Leslie Mann was subject to mixed opinion as it hit the red carpet. Zac Posen designed the gown, which made Leslie look like a Disney Princess. But in my honest opinion along with many other spectators it looked a little too crumpled for the swanky event and also received a lot of flak on the internet.
Thats all folks ! Hope you enjoyed our coveted list of the best and worst dressed at the Oscars..untill next time! Lots of hugs and kisses 🙂 xoxo
